How do I get started on Birdytell?

How do I sign up for Birdytell?

Signing up is easy. Just go to our landing page and hit the sign-up button. You can use either your email address or your Facebook information to create an account. Once you have signed up, you can begin to Capture the items you love for your Wish List.

How do I add the Capture button?

  1. First, please make sure that your bookmarks/favorites bar is visible.
  2. Here are instructions on how to make this toolbar visible in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Explorer
  3. Once your bookmarks/favorites bar is visible, drag the Capture button into your bookmarks/favorites toolbar
  4. When you find an item you would like to add to your Wish List, click the Capture button
  5. A second window will pop up: hit Save

    You will need to refresh your screen to see the image on your board

What is a “flock” and why should I get one?

A “flock” is a community of your favorite people. They are the people closest to you - family, friends, teachers, students or coworkers. They are the people you interact with on a regular basis, the people you would walk over to their desk, drive to their house, pick up the phone and call. Generally speaking, people that you would actually buy or receive a gift from. It’s important for you to develop your flock so you know what they want, need or desire.

How do I add an item to my Wish List?

To upload a picture or item to your page, first add the Capture Button to your browser’s toolbar. Once you do that, you can begin shopping. Go to your favorite retailer’s page, click on the item you want, then Capture it. It’s that simple.

How do I buy an item from Birdytell?

When you are looking at a flock member’s page, you will see the awesome gifts they crave. If you click on a gift, you will see all the details on that gift including a "Buy" button. Click that button and the Web page of the item will come up and you can complete the transaction there.

How do I change my profile picture?

Go to your profile and then click on the circle in the upper left to “change image.” Once you click, you will be prompted to upload your favorite photo of yourself. Just next to the image you can also add you location and a short description of your favorite gifts to receive.

How do I change my email, username, or password?

Once you are logged in, click on your name on the upper right corner of your Profile, then click “Account.” You can change your information there.

What etiquette does Birdytell expect

How do I link my profile with Facebook, or Google+?

For the time being, you can only link your account with Facebook. We will add functionality for Google+ in the near future.

Can I make my page public?

Not yet, but keep in mind, you have a public avatar and description of the gifts you like to receive that can be searched and seen by others. So, make sure there is enough information in your profile so others will know your interests.

What happens once I receive a gift?

Once you receive one of the items on your board, you can simply go to your board to remove an item. However, there will be times you forget to reconcile your board. Two weeks after receiving notice that you “have a gift in flight,” you will receive and email reminder to reconcile your board. We recommend you to take swift action to remove the item as quickly as possible to prevent receiving duplicate items. We are, after all, trying to simplify the gifting process. This saves headaches for not only you, but the retailer as well!

Does Birdytell handle payments to the retailer?

No, Birdytell is a simple online community for individuals to share ideas, gift lists and dreams. We simply allow our users to click on different items on their flock’s Wish List and you are directed to the site where the person originally found it. It would be the same as if you went to the same place they found it in the first place.

How do businesses use Birdytell?

If you own a business and would like to learn more about our partnership opportunities, please contact us at flywithus@birdytell.com. Currently, we are developing several ways select retailers with extraordinary gifts can be a part of Birdytell.

Birdytell offers an easy way to reach many consumers while at home or mobile. If you are a business, and you want exposure to Birdytell users and connect directly with them, and/or offer them special merchandise from your company, let us know.

Why doesn’t Birdytell allow messaging inside your “flock?”

Since your flock are people you are closest with, they are (typically) people you could just call on the phone or see in person. You are welcome to comment on gift items and/or add hash tags(#).

Birdytell is awesome. Can I work for you?
